DEAD PRESIDENTS BLUES

Well it was on November 5th in the year of 24

Seemed like every street we turned down lead to another war

Everyone believed that there’d be a big blue wave

But now every dead president is rolling in their grave

Being a racist, pedophile and convicted felon

Only seemed to help his cause

He’s a self serving narcissist who thinks he’s above the law

And the Orangeman claimed America to save

But now all the dead presidents are turnin’ in their grave

If he won the election was fair and if he lost it would be a fraud

He puts himself above his country

Put himself above any god

And they buy his bibles and cry “He’s so brave”

But now every dead president is spinnin’ in their grave

Don’t become complacent as the tide come racin’ in

It’s time to roll up our sleeves

Time for the hard work to begin

Don’t give the fascists what they so desperately crave

Let’s stand and fight together

Stand and fight together

Let’s stand and fight together

For a better world to save

AIN'T FOR SALE

From the Trans Canada Trail

To the last spike connecting every train

From shore to shore to shore

You can hear us as we sing

And we sing

Chorus:

That Canada it ain’t for sale

We’ll stand and fight and we’ll prevail

Cause Canada it ain’t for sale

This goes deeper than a tariff

More important than a hockey game

Some things you do some things you don’t

God god almighty have you no shame

REPEAT CHORUS

Well we’ve been down some back roads together

Mighta had a couple close turns in the past

I don’t know if we’re ever going back to that

Maybe it wasn’t built to last

Well on this stolen land let us unite

Let us create something new

Let us not forget the past but recognize it

Let’s create something new

Something true

REPEAT CHORUS

WE DON'T LISTEN TO A FELON

Well I got time fer ya in my mind

Got no use for all yer tellin’

I ignore every word as it’s too absurd

I don’t listen to a felon

I don’t listen to a felon

Well the truth you speak is false and weak

Got no time fer none of yer yellin’

I’ve heard much worse as you spit and curse

I don’t listen to a felon

I don’t listen to a felon

What you got is severe brain rot

We can see yer head a-swellin’

We’ll keep our gas and you can kiss our ass

We don’t listen to a felon

We don’t listen to a felon

And the truth you speak is false and weak

We got no time fer none of yer yellin’

We’ve heard much worse as you spit and curse

We don’t listen to a felon

We don’t listen to a felon

PROUD TO BE A CANADIAN

From the top of Mount Logan

To the tide at the Bay of Fundy

In between there is the beauty of the prairies

This truly is the land of plenty

And you ask am I proud to be a Canadian?

I am

I’ve stepped foot in Algonquin Park

I’ve swam in the Beaufort Sea

And every roadside attraction

Is a picture perfect postcard memory

And you ask am I proud to be a Canadian?

I am

On the west coast I watched the humpback whales

Hear the songs of the Trumpeter Swan

I’ve walked the desert of the Great Sand Hills

In the middle of nowhere Saskatchewan

And you ask am I proud to be a Canadian?

I am

ON THE STIKINE

I was running through Taltan country

In a paradise of green

A bit of adventure is what I was after

So I came to do a lil whitewater raftin’ on the Stikine

Passin’ thru the 3 goats

The water starts to get a lil mean

It got so sketch that I almost drowned

I was screamin’ so loud but you couldn’t hear a sound on the Stikine

Then when I got to Wasson’s hole

I was runnin’ on adrenaleen’

It started to rain and I lost my paddle

Shit’s goin’ sideways but I ain’t rattled on the Stikine

I made it through the canyon

It was better than anything I’d ever seen

Any sense of doubt I had to bury

I survived though at times it got a bit hairy on the Stikine

A bit of adventure is what I was after

So I came to do a lil whitewater raftin’ on the Stikine

It got so sketch that I almost drowned

I was screamin’ so loud but you couldn’t hear a sound on the Stikine

It started to rain and I lost my paddle

Shit’s goin’ sideways but I ain’t rattled on the Stikine

STICK IT UP YER EH!

Well you can take that tariff and stick up yer eh!

Stick it up yer Eh!

Stick it up yer Eh!

You believe that you’ve been sworn king

You think that you’re a master of the deal

Then how come you go bankrupt all the time

But they never find the money that you steal?

REPEAT CHORUS

All the clothes that say America first

They’re all made in China don’t you know

And he figures that if the rich keep getting’ richer

Then the poor will find some other place to go

REPEAT CHORUS

You said it was rigged then rigged it yerself

With some help from Elon on the way

Yer in bed with all the reds and all the fascists

If Stompin’ Tom was here I’m sure you’d hear him say

REPEAT CHORUS

TALKIN' MAD TRAPPERS BLUES

For a little while now I was gone

I went up north to the wild Yukon

Caught me a fast runnin’ Greyhound bus

Smokin’ some mighty fine cannabis

I was high on the mountain

I could not sleep not for lack of tryin’

Cause he not busy being born is busy dyin’

And I found that I couldn’t keep my eyes

From seeing the mountains kissing the skies

We started out on a sunny day

We were drivin’ up the Dempster Highway

We were on about Mile 74 when it started to rain it started to pour

Grizzly bear showers

We were all so anxious like a dog with a bone

When we made our way out of Tombstone

We gotta save the hike for another

We bigger sights a-comin’ our way

Well we got held back because of the rains

And ended up stuck in Eagle Plains

But you could smoke in the bar so I didn’t mind

They had an old piano and the people were kind

When I finished playing they all started to applaud

And I thought to myself oh my god

There wasn’t a drink or a tear that was dry

And all my drinks they was seemin’ to buy

If I could stick around for one more ol’ Hank song

They were the best kind of people to meet

The kind I’d like walkin’ down my street

They’d go out of their way to help someone

They care or judge him by what he’s done

There are no strangers here only friends

Then I got too drunk and was feelin’ kinda sick

When we arrived in Inuvik

We were feelin’ pretty down on our luck

Thought we’d never make it up to Tuktoyaktuk

And we all agreed that we had to wait

Though on a drop dead time there was some debate

Then the rain and the fog it started to lift

We were given a chance we were given a gift

We went flyin’ all over that Mackenzie Delta

Somewheres along the way I took me a notion

To take a lil swim in the Arctic Ocean

So I walked right in up to my knees

They loaded the cameras and I was already starting to freeze

Then I raised my hands up to the sky

Said I’d better do this before I die

So I flung backwards and the cameras went flash

I rolled around and I started to splash

I was doin’ the polar bear swim

So if you head to where the waters flow

Wherever you travel n’ wherever you go

You just remember to keep in mind

That you must leave no trace behind

Or Albert Johnson is gonna come get ya

ROADSIDE ATTRACTIONS

CHORUS

I was getting a wee bit restless

And I needed a big ol’ distraction

So I’m takin’ myself on a little trip

Stopping at some roadside attractions

I started out in Rankin Inlet

Saw the larger than life Inuksuk

When I was in NWT

Saw the Igloo Church in Inuvik

Went for a walk in the sign post forest

In Watson Lake, YT

Took a couple pictures at Mile 0

In Dawson Creek, B.C

REPEAT CHORUS

Ate some Stawnichy’s sausage in Mundare

Met Squirt the Skunk in Beiseker

Saw the spinnin’ egg in Vergreville

And the world’s largest sundial in Lloydminster

Saw the big Red Bull in Radisson and

And all the Buffalo at Wanuskewin

Saw Ernie the Turtle in Turtleford

& Reginald the Grasshopper in Regina Saskatchewan

REPEAT CHORUS

Hit the Hockey Stick in ol’ Winkler town

And the large Grey Owl in Portage La Prairie

Saw Winnie The Bear in Winnipeg

And the giant May Fly in the town on Gimli

Said hi to Bigfoot in Vermilion Bay, Ontario

In Kenora I hung out with Husky The Muskie

Hung out with Max the Moose in Dryden

Saw the Steamshovel, Dragon Skull and the Big Nickle in Sudbury

REPEAT CHORUS

Saw the Leonard Cohen mural in downtown Montreal

Played some tunes with Benjo The Singing Frog in Quebec City

I was greeted by the famous cow in Baie-Saint-Paul

Saw the Snow Goose of Montmagny

There was Bruce the Moose in Doaktown

In Cardwell New Brunswick there was Blowhard The Bony Horse

The Strawberry Man in Glenholme the giant Moose in Cow Bay

Along with the World’s Largest Fiddle in Sydney, Nova Scotia of course

There was a Large Woven Basket in Richmond, PEI

In Cavendish saw the largest lobster ever on land

Swam with Cressie The Crescent Lake Monster in Roberts Arm

Ended at Joey’s Lookout in Gambo, Newfoundland

REPEAT CHORUS

KEEP YER ELBOWS UP

You can keep yer Bud and your Miller Light

We got Alexander Keith’s and Kokanees

You got the polluted Utah Lake

We got the picturesque Lake Louise

We got Blue Rodeo and we own The Stanley Cup

Keep yer stick on the ice Canada

And keep yer elbows up

We have free universal healthcare

You see cancer as a way to make some green

You got your fries with Ranch dressing

We got Montreal Smoked Meat Poutine

We got The Tragically Hip and we own The Grey Cup

Keep yer head on a swivel Canada

And keep yer elbows up

You say I reckon and ya’ll

We say Eh and no ya for sure bud

You say that we’re taking advantage of you

When we send our folks to help with your fires and floods

We proved we’re better at hockey

When we won the 4 nations cup

Now stand on guard united Canada

And keep yer elbows up

SONG FOR DUDLEY GEORGE

It’s been 30 years since Dudley George was shot down

Teach his story to the minds of the youth

It’s been 30 years since Dudley George was gunned down

He was only armed with the truth

In 1942 they stole the lands of the Chippewa

Stole it in the guise of World War 2

The ancestral burial grounds became a military base

3 decades later oh god it’s still true

On the eve of September 4th they cut a hole in the fence

Meant to keep them out of their own lands

What the OPP did in the shadows

Can’t contain the blood on their hands

They said “Land claims aren’t peaceful protests

The Stoney Pointers need a lesson taught

We don’t need any burden of proof of them having weapons

We’re the law and we’re the order and they’re diddley squat”

Dudley George he was one of many protestors

He sang “Oh Canada it’s your home on native land”

He said “I can’t do nothing I gotta do something

It’s in my blood my future’s in my hands”

Dudley said “I must be so good lookin’

Cause the pigs always got their eyes on me

I won’t back down til our treaties are honored

Then my people finally can be free”

Slippery George he was also there that night

They beat him until his heart stopped

52 hits they laid to his lifeless form

But somehow all the charges they were dropped

Heading the sharpshooters of the OPP

Was a scared little man, trigger happy and green

The shots he fired one and then two and then three

Came from the gun of the coward Sergeant Deane

As Dudley lay dying in the back seat

Urgent medical help was requested

Instead of letting them get Dudley to a hospital for help

Carolyn and Pierre were arrested

Ken Deane resented the fact that he got probation

Only 2 years less a day

He appealed all the way to the supreme court

All while keeping his job and collecting his pay

If not for the tireless work of Sam George

There may never have been a trial to this day

It didn’t happen through good will or guilt

It’s cause Sam would not just go away

You could say this is a cautionary tale

Ah but we both know this is still the norm

The cops are still littered with racists

Who only worship their own uniform

The treaties they must still be honored

And reconciliation is key

It’s not a legend a fairy tale or a myth

It’s the ugly truth of our own history

It’s been 30 years since Dudley George was shot down

Teach his story to the minds of the youth

The big politicians wanted them out dead or alive

They didn’t want this rebellion to survive

It’s been 30 years since Dudley George was shot down

He was only armed with the truth

They shot down Dudley George

He was only armed with the truth
