TALKIN' BLACK FRIDAY BLUES
It started out like any regular day
'Til I heard it was a black Friday
I grabbed my credit card and a coffee to go
Went to stand in line at my favorite store
When I got there it was barely 3 o'clock
My brain could hardly stand the shock
There was many like me lined up at the door
Just another game between the rich and the poor
All waiting for some kinda deal
Some kinda bargain, some kinda steal
The doors were barely open a crack
When the whole mob went on the attack
I could not believe what next I saw
People havin' no respect for the law
They saw the blitz ad on their TV
And it whipped them all up into a buyin' frenzy
Soon there were hundreds of shoppers at large
Through the crowd I started to charge
I didn't realize just what I was seeing
People trampling to death a human being
It didn't really matter to me
I rushed to check out the sale on DVD's
But when I got to the bin I started to pout
They had a sign there saying all sold out
I knew that I couldn't leave with nothin'
So I bought a brand new oven
It was stainless steel trimmed with chrome
I could hardly wait to get it home
I went to leave but there were cops outside
Saying no one can go cause somebody died
I found out later his name was Jdimytai Damour
And he was only there working the door
I read my paper the other day
The police said shoppers have hell to pay
Said they got a tape of it all
And somebody's gotta take the fall
But don't be scared all you witnessess
We just want you to tell us who it is
Cause these savages must be taught
n' we won't give up until their caught
But if I come forward about what I saw
They'll hang my ass by the rope of the law
So what can we learn from all of this
Next time I won't forget my shopping list
I already had an oven
EN FRANCAIS
I can't take it any longer
There's something that I got to say
CBC will go anywhere
The Leafs happen to play
They'll go Dallas, Texas
They'll even go to Spain
But to show the Habs at home
Simply causes to much to pain
(CHORUS)
Everybody knows that we got 24
And it won't be too long until we have one more
And when that day comes the Leafs will be on the bench
But I'll still have to watch the game in french
Before I go any further
You must have all the facts
They only show the Canadiens
East of Halifax
But what about the prairie boys
Sill wearin' #9
Still playin' sudden death
Like their life was on the line
REPEAT CHORUS
They don't even play the games
On radio anymore
Apparently hock is for
The rich and not the poor
Now they're making millions
Long ago they went into debt
To play a game they loved
To live with no regrets
Man I tell ya Don Cherry's
Put my patience to a test
Cause down in old Toronto
They don't give a damn about the west
You have to write a letter
That will travel like a snail
And don't you know your opinion doesn't count
Unless you have e-mail
REPEAT CHORUS
