lyrics

WATERS EDGE
Waters Edge he was just a Brooklyn kid
Livin' down there everything that you love
You gotta keep hid way down
His father was a pussy, his mother was a drunk
He found them both locked dead in a trunk
He's going down
He went down to the river n' raised his hands to the sky
Screamin' I'll take the head of the men
Who caused my family to die
They're goin' down
To the fiery furnace where the demons do dwell
I'll look em square in the eye as I kill em
Tell em they're going to hell deep down
Cause with no mother nor father, no next of kin
Waters Edge is bound to ramble and condemned to sin
He's goin' down
Waters Edge is goin' down
A SANITY PIRATE
You behave what you experience
No use for resistance
What we make of what we are made of
Men leave it to fate and chance
All the girls they just wanna dance
Go to the prom, get married, fall in love
Said Peter to Paul I don't understand you at all
And maybe Jill pushed Jack down the hill
It's all imagination or some cheap sensation
It's really too hard to tell
We each are separated from and related
To one another physically
All these social things that unite the pawns and kings
With the masquerade machine of normality
It's all too hard to handle the gravity of scandal
The news is out all over town
Through trials and tribulations
Hellfire and damnation's
There ain't no way in hell I'm goin' down
EMPTY HEADS AND HEAVY HEARTS
So much time and wasted talk
Scattered brains in a conversation shock
Leavin' for the party that never will start
Only empty heads and heavy hearts
False memories and broken strings
A collage of pictures that don't mean a thing
Too much of nothing just playing a part
With only empty heads and heavy hearts
Even a gambler knows when to quit
When his heart deceives him and his eyes play tricks
Living together yet growing apart
With empty heads and heavy hearts
SASK-A-BUSH MAMA
A Sask-a-bush mama only wants one thing
A man with a million and a heart on a string
A Sask-a-bush mama only wants one thing
A man with a million and a big ol' watch and chain
She'll say money don't do her no good
I'd marry a poor man if I could
But I'm a Sask-a-bush mama and that's the price you pay
And if you mess with me trouble gonna come your way
She's short and mean and barks like a dog
Got me talkin' to myself in a monologue
That Sask-a-bush mama got the best of me
She can fool you one time then never let you be
She'll say she loves you and she'll always be there
Do anything to make you think that she's on the square
Sask-a-bush mama you best be on your way
I ain't got no time & no dimes to give you today
A Sask-a-bush mama only wants one thing
A man with a million and a heart on a string
A Sask-a-bush mama only wants one thing
A man with a million and a big ol' watch and chain
EMPATHY
I feel like Sampson lion jaw bone in my hand
I feel like Jesse James livin' on the lamb
Feel like Cronkite when I'm tellin' you the news
But I feel like Little Walter when I'm singing the blues
I feel like Gary Snider climbing up into the sky
And I feel like Faron Young when I got a tear in my eye
I feel like Madonna when I'm shopping for shoes
But I feel like Little Walter when I'm singing the blues
I feel like Horatio Alger I'm a man on the move
And I feel like George Bush when I got something to prove
I feel like Sherlock Holmes when I'm searching for clues
And I feel like Little Walter when I'm singing the blues
COLD OF YOUR SHOULDER
I'm comin' in from the cold of your shoulder
And turning the lights down low
Gonna sit awhile and think it all over
Until I know
Just what to do with a girl like you
My heart don't know if I should stay or go
Comin' in from the cold of your shoulder
And turnin' the lights down low
I keep watchin' the clouds as they pass by
Hopin' that they'll burst
This love has left me to jaded to cry
I feel like I'm cursed
Doomed to repeat that walk of defeat
From the cradle to the hearse
I'm comin' in from the cold of your shoulder
Before the rain clouds burst
LIFE IN THE CITY
Lenny Bruce had it right
There is no law in the city
There is no justice on the streets
Nobody looks twice
n' they try not to act nice
Make everyone pay a price
'Tis all about sacrifice
And nobody looks twice
Then they try to bully you
Like you're a cross between Jello Biafra and Harpo Marx
Always the quiet one until he feels like dancing
Then lets it all hang out
Freedom of expression is as simple as
Miami circa 1969
Illusion of obscenity
Jim Morrison sings John Lee Hooker
Gets him arrested for his "King Snake"
What is life if it 'tis not something
That we hold sacred
Some unwritten premonition
Politics and insurance updates
Get me down on warm winter days
But not for long
They can't keep me down
They'll never get me down
As long as my heart keeps beatin'
And the dark visions are recedin'
'Tis me best move to move along
And the heartaches might come and go
And pass you by from rain to snow
Day to day I have a favorite different song

TAX ME I'M CANADIAN
(CHORUS)
Tax me I'm Canadian
Our home on native land
Keep on fighting America's war
That the whole world don't understand, poor boy
That the whole world don't understand
Love me I'm a Liberal
Fear me I'm PC
Hate me if I'm Bloc Quebecois
Don't dare waste your vote on the Green Party
REPEAT CHORUS
The skeletons out of the closet
Life in an igloo's a drag
All we got in the north country
Are long haired pot smoking fags
REPEAT CHORUS
HAIKU
Are leaves falling to the ground
Or returning to the earth
Tell me
HELLFIRE AND FORGIVENESS
So here we were living in the city. Just trynna cut an album man. Someone walked in. They were bleeding outta the forehead. He had tattoos on his neck. He said, "You know what the fuckin' deal is. This is JD's house. I'm robbing it."
"You're doin' what man" somebody said. Then he said, "Don't call the cops."
Then he sat down and begged us to come near to him. He was bleeding and I don't think he recognized it yet but I seen by that look in his eye...and I understood. Then he said, "Do you want any jib?" and we said, "No. We don't do that."
Then the police came.
Then the police came. We heard the sirens floating out around the neighborhood. Giving their distinctive melody. Crying out making the heart race of every private criminal. To race off for just another day in the city. A life in the city.
