GROWIN' YOUNG
Sometimes I get so crazy
Inspired then lazy
And you say I outta know that by now
Love can be so shallow
And be a tough pill to swallow
And you say I outta know that by now

(CHORUS)
You say I really outta know by now
But I really don't think I do
You say I really outta changed by now
But I just don't think it's true
I ain't getting older
I'm growing young

Life is a bit of a gamble
Wherever you are and you happen to ramble
And I think I outta know that by now

You say I feel so jaded
Gets me uptight and frustrated
And I think I outta know that by now
REPEAT CHORUS

HOLDIN' MY CARDS
Wish I had teeth so I could chew
Wish there was a me that had a you
Wish these old lungs could breathe air too

Wish the truth wasn't so direct
Wish there was less to inspect
But wishin' don't go far
So what'd you expect

(CHORUS)
Where did it all go
I for one do not know
And I don't care at all
I'm holding my cards
Close to my chest
Before they fall

Time has gotten away from me
Even though it ain't an enemy
Every day it's more like a memory

Wonder where some people are today
That seemed to get lost along the way
If they were here I wonder what they'd say
REPEAT CHORUS

JOHN LAUDER
Somewhere down the road aways
Is the house where Old John Lauder stays
Moved here in 1954
Came on the boot heels of the war

There he stayed and farmed the land
Raised a family with his bare hands
His children grew and all moved away
There was nothing left for to make them stay

His wife grew sick on a winters day
Twas then he got on his knees to pray
Spare her life take mine if you please
Let your hand strike me down in this cold winters breeze

His wife still died and his children stayed gone
For more whiskey anything he'd pawn
But he made sure to carve out his own tombstone
So now he's just waiting just dying alone

Then on the 21st day of June
Old Man Lauder died neath the moon
The town ain't the same now that he's gone
So lets have a drink and toast to old John

I WILL ALWAYS BE THERE
(Words and Music by Ashley Dexter)
Well the moons high up in the sky and the stars are too
I don't know if it's right but I'll look for you
I've never met you but I'm sure you're the one
Been looking a long time now but it's you I've never found

(CHORUS)
Don't you be worried
Don't you be scared
Don't you be worried cause
I will always be there
For you

I always see you in dreams as we fly through the sky
I wish this dream was real
I wish this dream was now
REPEAT CHORUS

HEAVE HO
Once upon a time I thought I knew ya I was wrong
Happily ever after never seemed to come along
Once upon a time I thought you gave a damn for me
But happily ever after it was only make believe
Heave Ho

Once upon a time too much talkin' was going on
Happily ever after didn't notice you were wrong
Once upon a time you fucked up beyond repair
And happily ever after didn't fuckin' care
Heave Ho

Once upon a time some choices were being made
And happily ever after ran outta here afraid
Once upon a time it was always you and I
But happily ever after turned out to be a lie
Heave Ho

I HAD TO
Had to stand back for a minute
Had to stand back for a while
Had to stand back from myself
I could never do it in style

Had to observe while it lingered
Had to observe and obey
Had to observe it in silence
Let the chips fall where they

Had to stand back from temple
Had to stand back from the start
Had to stand back and untangle
The chains around my heart

Had to stand strong in temptation
Had to stand strong in the storm
Had to stand strong like a statue
Whose heart will never be warm

Had to stand back from my future
Had to stand back from my past
Had to stand back from the music
Played too sloppy and fast

Had to go back to move forward
Had to go back to see clear
Had to go back and rekindle
Everything that I hold dear

DREAMIN'
I'm on the road riding with the wind
Going back to some place I ain't never been
The last DJ on my radio
It follows me wherever I go

(CHORUS)
I got a dream and it can't be forgot
I got a dream you either like it or not

These walls got memories I can't speak of
They are steeped in tradition
They were branded by love
I take it all in it's part of the show
Great things can be found in places unknown
REPEAT CHORUS
What's this feeling that's been rushing over me
It feels soft like waves on the sea
My sweet memory of one that is gone
I'll find a way to make their spirit live on
REPEAT CHORUS

GALLOWS BAY
Two lovers went walkin' one summer night
One in secret disarray
Knowing from the other they'd part
In a week come Tuesday

She held him close and took his hand
Said this is hard to say
My father has sold by body for gold
To the king of Gallows Bay

There ain't enough gold in them there hills
That could buy your love from me
By my fathers cruel request
I'm shipping out to sea

What good is gold where I'm bound
It will not set me free
A man that I don't know at all
Is waiting there for me

I have a bride due any day
Said the king to his elite
Put golden feathers in her hair
And shed tears at her feet

When the bride she did arrive
The king of Gallows Bay
Sent his men to go and kill
Who stole her heart away

Then it came so suddenly
Her fateful wedding day
But in her heart she could not love
The king of Gallows Bay

The king he tried every trick in the book
But his queen rejected him
In the final hour one dark night
His mind began to swim

It took all that he had
And he would not take no more
He sent his servant for the bride
Then paced around the floor

The bride she entered casually
With a knife under her dress
Said sweet king of Gallows Bay
To you I must confess

You've had your way, you've sealed your fate
It is not up to me
Turn around O noble king
And my one true love do see

Well the king of Gallows Bay
For once was robbed of breath
He looked into the strangers eyes
And forsaw his death

You want me killed but here I am
This lovestruck hero sang
Life for you might be a joke
But for me it's the real thing

This woman I bought with land and gold
Never could love me
For her heart was shackled
To your filthy pedigree

I've had enough, you'll say no more
As the bride fell to her knees
You can not buy a woman's heart
And that I do decree

So take this knife my one true love
And pierce his lordly chest
Show that he is human
Just like all the rest

The lovestruck hero did declare
I've waited patiently
Now's the time to seal your fate
Prepare for eternity

The king he would not go down slow
And he would not go down fast
He had all the faith in the world
His kingdom would forever last

In the morning up came the sun
As the smoke began to clear
All 3 bodies without life
Killed by jealousy and fear

There is no moral to relate
As stories often do
No hidden truth to resonate
With the chosen few

Things turned out the way they did
There's nothing left to say
All 3 are still buried there
On the shores of Gallows Bay

YODELIN' BRAKEMAN
Well I'm just a yodelin' brakeman
Spent my life out on the track
And when I lay this old hammer down
I ain't coming back

Well I heard that lonesome whistle
Singing for this land to be free
From shore to golden shore
From sea to shining sea

Well you know I fought like a warrior poet
Underneath the sparkling sky
There's a time to live
And this ain't no time to die

Well I'm just a yodelin' brakeman
Spent my life out on the track
And when I lay this old hammer down
I ain't coming back
No I ain't coming back

NO ONE SAW A THING
In a vigilante town population 323
Comes this tale from Skidmore, Missouri
Rex McElroy was the terror of the town
His acts of cruelty were known all around

Assault, arson, burglary just to name a few
Cattle rustlin',rape and child molestation too

There were charges brought against him every now and then
Each time he got off cause of Richard McFadden

A defense lawyer of the highest degree
Kept this Jesse James of the northwest Missouri Free
21 times Rex made the charges disappear
Some say he used money, intimidation and fear

Trena McCloud was only 12 when she first was raped
Even Rex's ex-wife tried to help her escape
He burned down her parents house and shot their dog dead
Till her parents consented n' she was 14, pregnant and wed

$2500 for bail got him out
As for the question of guilt the town had no doubt

On July 27 1976
Twas the day Romaine Henry found himself in a fix

McElroy stopped him on an old country road
Then proceeded to his rifle unload
You been spying on me you lying son of a bitch
But when he went to reload Henry floored it outta the ditch

McElroy was acquitted yet he bragged of his deed
Engulfed with the pride of his power and greed
His daughter was caught stealin from the general store
Just some penny candies but he caused an uproar

Started stalking the owner one Bo Bowenkamp
Started cutting the slack to lighten the clamp

One day Bo was watching the world go by
When he caught Rex with a gun outta the corner of his eye

He didn't know just what to expect
Next thing he knew he was shot in the neck
Again out on bail pending his appeal
McElroy jumped into his automobile

Then he went to put David Dunbar in his place
The only town marshal quit with a gun in his face
3 times the trial had been delayed
Once again the townspeople felt betrayed

They couldn't take a chance on what the trial had in store
Amongst themselves twas decided not to take it no more

The time of action was about to be done
On the morning of July 10th 1981

McElroy took his guns down to the D&G Tavern bar
When he went to leave they surrounded his car
2 shots stuck out of the many that rang
Outta 60 people there no one saw a thing
